Staff was <br />appreciative of your attentiveness to all aspects of the negotiation process <br />and contribution in formulating the wasm..hauler contracts. The Mayor and <br />City Council were very thankfiul for the guidance you provided os wall as <br />Your thoroughness to all aspects of negotiations and development of both <br />waste huller contracts. <br />Through this rigorous process, the City was able to successfully negotiate <br />new 8 -year agreements with its two current waste haulers, while obtaining <br />new terms, enhanced services, and increased City revenue. Key <br />enhancements include ilte following: <br />• Collection vehicles powered by natural gas. <br />• Waste Management's residential agreement includes an increase in <br />diversion from 40"% to 45% of ilia solid waste collected. <br />• All residents will be melded to door-to-door collection of Sharps and <br />other household hazardous wastes at no additional charge. <br />• Valley Vista's commercial agreement requires a substantial increase in <br />diversion, from 8.5% to 25% of the solid waste collected, and inclncies <br />the processing of all mixed waste to recoverreeyelables. <br />• A minimum of 75% of the City's construction and demolition debris <br />will be diverted. <br />• The new agreements provide the City with enforcement mechanisms to <br />help ensure that the new rcquiremenis are met, As a result, the existing <br />City-wide diversion rate of 59% will further increase under the now <br />agreements. <br />• Residents will receive a rebate for revenues from recyclable material <br />sales over a minimum per ton value. <br />Our City has had the pleasure of utilizing your firm's solid waste services <br />Page A-4 <br />HF&H Consultants, LLC <br />
