Box 1988 (M-20) <br />Santa Ana, CA 92702 <br />(714) 647-5804 <br />www.ci.santa-ana.ca.us <br />Purpose of <br />Award <br />To recognize outstanding achievement in the restoration, rehabilitation, <br />beautification and preservation of the City’s historic resources. <br />Award <br />Eligibility <br />1. The property must be located within the city, and must be within a historic <br />district or individually designated on either the Local, State or National <br />Register of Historic Places. <br />2. The project must have been completed between January 1, 2012 and <br />December 31, 2017. <br />3. The property owner must have obtained all required city permits and <br />approvals. <br />4. All projects must comply with City of Santa Ana Historic Structure <br />Guidelines, historic district guidelines; and adhere to the Secretary of the <br />Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. <br />Nominations <br />Deadline <br />Nominations must be received by July 26, 2018 by 4:00 p.m. in order to be <br />considered for this year’s award list. Nominations may be submitted for <br />consideration by any person or group that is not employed by the City of Santa <br />Ana. <br />Categories <br />for <br />Nomination <br />1. Restoration Award – For exceptional restoration of a historic resource to <br />its original beauty. Restoration includes the re-use and refurbishment of <br />existing facilities and materials and/or returning a building to its original <br />condition. <br />2. Rehabilitation Award – For exceptional rehabilitation of a historic <br />property’s exterior structure. Rehabilitation includes the reconstruction of <br />original architectural features using new materials to return the structure or <br />site to its original appearance. <br />3. Award of Merit – For any significant measure taken to forward the goals of <br />historic preservation. <br />4. Historic Beautification Award – For the historically appropriate <br />improvement of the setting in which an historic structure is placed. This <br />could be the landscaping, parking area, accessory structures, etc. <br />5. Historic Infill Design – For new development that is completed in a historic <br />context either in a historic district or historically sensitive area. <br />Review of <br />the <br />Nomination <br />An Ad Hoc Committee will review all applications. The Ad Hoc Committee’s <br />recommendations will be presented to the Historic Resources Commission <br />(HRC) for final designation of the award recipients. <br />Award <br />Presentation <br />& Display <br />The award shall be presented by the HRC at one of their regularly scheduled <br />meetings during the year. The City Council shall recognize the award recipient <br />at its first regular monthly televised meeting in December.
