Dr. Ana Jimenez, noted crime prevention program has served over 200 <br />families and opined need for counseling and therapy. Expressed concern <br />over funding being cut and requested City Council to continue funding <br />program at previous levels. <br />5. Sophia Soberon, on behalf of the Cambodian Family, thanked City Council <br />for their support. Provided City Council with update on services provided and <br />expressed appreciation for continued support. <br />6. Savoenun Pho, opined services provided by Cambodian Family has assisted <br />her and other families with continued education opportunities and asked City <br />Council for their continued support. <br />7. Ofelia Ramos, addressed City Council to express support for Cambodian <br />Family program. <br />8. David Levy, on behalf of Fair Housing Council of Orange County, expressed <br />opposition to reduce program funding and requested City Council to increase <br />funding. Noted staff report does not represent the recommendation of the <br />commission and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) increase to CDBG <br />funding. <br />9. Denis Cato, opined program assists individuals stay in their homes. <br />Requested City Council to reconsider funding cut. <br />The Hearing Closed. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />Councilmember Villegas, requested addition of Second Chance Orange County <br />for CDBG funding. Opined program provides assistance with jobs and homeless <br />within the City of Santa Ana. <br />Director Mendoza, noted increase in CDBG funds of $79,908. <br />Councilmember Benavides, requested City Council to consider addition of <br />Second Chance Orange County with funding of $30,000 and American on Track <br />with funding at $45,000. <br />Councilmember Solorio, expressed support for all applications submitted by the <br />commission. Requested consideration be made for Second Chance. <br />MOTION. <br />Approve the Fiscal Year 2018 - 2019 Community Development Block <br />Grant Program in the amount of $5,816,959 from the United States <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br />2.
