FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL <br />❑ Amended <br />ElOOrdinance on Reading <br />CABINETS SPECIFICATION NO. 18-039 <br />( ) <br />2n <br />❑Ordinance on 2n° Reading <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6, 1C} <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />r <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />CL4 MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to McCain, Inc. for the purchase <br />of seven traffic signal control cabinets in an amount not to exceed $53,400, subject to <br />nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />The City of Santa Ana maintains and operates 303 traffic signals, many of which have outdated <br />steel cabinets. At times, these cabinets fail due to traffic collisions, electrical surges, rust, or other <br />damage. Once a cabinet is compromised, it must be replaced immediately to minimize delay and <br />congestion impacts to the public. To expedite cabinet replacement, the City will purchase 7 <br />aluminum cabinets that meet current State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) <br />standards. These cabinets will be provided to the traffic signal maintenance contractor on an as - <br />needed basis. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on May 1, 2018, on the City's online bid management and <br />publication system. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: <br />315 Vendors notified <br />12 Vendors downloaded bid documents <br />5 Bids received <br />0 Bids received from Santa Ana vendors <br />Bids were received, opened on May 22, 2018, and evaluated (Exhibit 1). The bid received from <br />McCain, Inc. is responsive to the specifications and meets the City's requirements. <br />2213-1 <br />
