ARTICLE VIII <br />8.0 TRAINING & EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM <br />8.1 Purpose. <br />A. To encourage the employees of the City of Santa Ana to take college <br />courses and special training courses which will better enable them to <br />perform their present duties and prepare them for increased <br />responsibilities. <br />To provide financial assistance to eligible employees for education <br />and training. <br />C. To establish eligibility requirements, conditions and procedures <br />whereby such assistance may be provided. <br />8.2 Eligibility. <br />A. Applications for tuition reimbursement shall be considered only from <br />full-time and designated PTCS, permanent City employees who have <br />completed the probationary work test period. <br />B. Reimbursement is not authorized for courses forwhich the employee is <br />receiving financial assistance from other sources such as G.I. Bill, <br />scholarships, etc. <br />C. Applications shall be approved only for courses directly related to the <br />employee's job or directly related to a promotional position in the <br />employee's occupational specialty. <br />D. Courses not ostensibly related to the employee's job, but which are <br />required to qualify for a degree that is directly related to his or herjob, <br />may be reimbursable only after all required occupationally related <br />courses have been completed. <br />E. Prior to receiving tuition reimbursement, employees must submit <br />documentary proof of having received a grade of not less than "C" <br />for the course.
