4. Payment after 20 years. Affected employees shall be granted <br />payment for unused sick leave on the same basis above, with <br />the exception that such affected employees who have <br />completed twenty (20) years of cumulative service with the city <br />shall be entitled to payment for two-thirds (2/3) of the total sick <br />leave benefit credited to his or her account upon the effective <br />date of his or her termination, not to exceed a maximum limit of <br />1066 hours, at the rate of base pay effective on the date of such <br />termination. <br />Payment after 25 years. Affected employees shall be granted <br />payment for unused sick leave on the some basis as Article <br />XI,1.K.2, with the exception that such affected employees who <br />have completed twenty-five (25) years of cumulative service <br />with the City shall be entitled to payment for three-fourths (3/4) <br />of the total sick leave benefit credited to his or her account <br />upon the effective date of his or herterrnination, not to exceed <br />a maximum limit of 1,200 hours, at the rate of base pay effective <br />on the date of termination. <br />6. CASA members who notify the City, in writing, of their intent to <br />retire within 12 calendar months from the date of retirement <br />shall be allowed to cash out any eligible sick leave bank <br />balances (K.1 through K.5), upon request. Employees shall <br />receive payment as soon as practical, and no longer than 30 <br />days after the request has been made. If the employee cashes <br />out his or her eligible sick leave bank balances prior to <br />retirement and subsequently does not retire from the City, all <br />future sick leave accrual for the employee shall be subject to <br />the same cash out provision elected and will be processed on <br />the final paycheck. All combined cash outs cannot exceed <br />what the employee would have been entitled to if the cash out <br />was processed on the final paycheck only. <br />L. California's Healthy Workplaces/Healthy Families Act of 2014 (AB1522) <br />also known as California's Paid Sick Leave Law, required the City to <br />provide paid sick leave to eligible employees upon oral or written <br />request, within the parameters of the law, for the following purposes: <br />Diagnosis, care, or treatment of an existing health condition of, <br />or preventative care for an employee or an employee's <br />CONFIDENTIAL ASSOCIATION OF SANTA ANA ICASAJ MOU: 2017-2018 Page 47 <br />25H-51 <br />
