REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JULY 3, 2018 <br />TITLE: <br />LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES VOTING <br />DELEGATE <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 51 1) <br />C Y MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 15' Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Designate Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez as a voting delegate and select up to two alternates for <br />the League of California Cities' Annual Conference's General Assembly scheduled for September 14, <br />2018. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The League of California Cities' (League) annual conference is scheduled from September 12-15, <br />2018, in Long Beach. Of particular significance at the conference, the annual League Business <br />Meeting will request its membership to take action on conference resolutions. <br />To expedite the conduct of business, every City is being requested to designate a voting <br />representative and two alternates who will represent the City at the League Business Meeting. League <br />bylaws indicate that each city is entitled to one vote and take a position on matters affecting municipal <br />or League policy. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community engagement <br />initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an active <br />role in discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />,--A A4',"� <br />Maria D.
