Board President Valerie Amezcua introduced SAUSD staff. <br />Councilmember David Benavides thanked Maria Gonzales for the gift of a red scarf. <br />AGENDA ITEMS <br />1.0 Approval of Minutes of the May 22, 2017 District/City Minutes <br />Motion by Benavides, Second by Amezcua to approve the minutes. Minutes approved <br />unanimously. <br />2.0 Approval of the October 20, 2017 District/City Minutes <br />Motion by Benavides, Second by Amezcua to approve the minutes. Minutes approved <br />unanimously. <br />3.0 Update on Partnership Initiatives <br />3.1 Roosevelt Community Center and Walker Field Project <br />Orin Williams indicated 92% of the project is completed. City Council approved an <br />amendment adding an additional $400,000 to the project. Amendment will be <br />presented to the School Board for approval. Project is scheduled for completion in <br />March and a ribbon cutting in April 2018. <br />Gerardo Mouet indicated a typo on the agenda. The posted agenda indicated Willard <br />Field and it should read Walker Field. He also provided a chronological update from the <br />City's perspective on the Roosevelt Project that is part of the agenda packet. <br />David Benavides indicated we need to look into security measures for the Roosevelt <br />project. Gerardo Mouet indicated similar to Garfield Community Center security <br />cameras will be installed on Roosevelt Community Center. <br />Dr. Phillips indicated during program hours someone will be at the site. If an incident <br />occurs it will be a joint responsibility. <br />Mr. Palacio asked about the Park Rangers and Mr. Mouet indicated the City is currently <br />recruiting to fill positions. The city currently has one park ranger working city-wide. <br />3.2 SAUSD Use of City Stadium <br />Gerardo Mouet indicated he met with Dr. Heatley on the use of the Stadium. Explained <br />the handout in the agenda packet on indicating the current football users, rental cost <br />per game and that all are treated the same. Indicated in November 2017 staff reminded <br />the schools that they are allowed to sell food and merchandise.
