Marguerite Berry
July 10, 2018
The Honorable City Council
20 Civic Center Plaza, M-30
P.O. Box 1988
Santa Ana, CA 92702
RE: AA 2018-05 1440-1450 E. 17thStreet
Dear City Council:
I am a resident of Santa Ana and reside at Linwood Avenue. I have lived in the neighborhood here
since it was first built in the mid 1950's, having spent 60+ years on E. Wellington. The purpose of this letter is
to voice my protest of the charter school project at 1440-1450 E. 17thStreetdue to traffic issues.
A few years ago, 14thand 15thStreets east of Grand Avenue were closed to traffic, from Grand Ave. just south
of the Target store. Due to this, we have experienced an enormous increase in the volume of vehicular traffic
entering our neighborhood on Linwood Avenue via 17thStreet. As we understand this project, AA 2018-05,
traffic would be increased on Linwood due to entering and exiting students from this school.
This increased traffic would have an adverse impact on our street and many residents have expressed their
disapproval and great concern over this situation.
Since we have increased traffic due to the closure of 14t1and 151hStreets, we are therefore very concerned
what effect this extra traffic from the school would have on our street. We are requesting that the Council
take a very close look at the adverse effect this project will have on our street and neighborhood. If this
project is approved we are requesting parking permits be issued to residents on the 1500 and 1600 blocks of
North Linwood.
Sincerely,
Marguerite Berry
i
