The OCCC strives to help Corpsmembers enter the workforce successfully. The following career <br />pathways have been listed as Orange County's top industries: <br />Manufacturing/Advanced Manufacturing- OCCC intends to identify manufacturing resources <br />within Orange County and develop opportunities for our participants to gain the exposure, <br />training and apprenticeships necessary to be prepared for such employment. Also, <br />Corpsmembers have the opportunity to obtain certifications in forklift operation and truck <br />driving through the OCCC or its partners. OCCC has a partnership with Prominent Staffing that <br />place work ready participants in manufacturing jobs within Orange County. <br />Healthcare and social services -- Many Corpsmembers have obtained externships with CVS and <br />Walgreens Pharmacies, exposing them to the field of healthcare. Other Corpsmembers have <br />gone on to further their education in healthcare fields, One former Corpsmember graduated <br />from American Career College as a dental assistant after having worked with an orthodontist <br />while attending classes. The OCCC will continue to expose Corpsmembers to healthcare agencies <br />through trips to local businesses, educational opportunities, and speakers and workshops at <br />OCCC facilities. The OCCC will strive to expose Corpsmembers to the medical field and connect <br />them with career certifications. <br />OCCC has a rich history and strong partnerships with other Orange County non -profits such as <br />Goodwill Industries, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana, Working Wardrobes <br />and many others. All of which are open to providing social service training experiences for our <br />participants. Additionally, these agencies seek out OCCC for participant referrals for their open <br />positions. <br />Hospitaiity/Entertainment — Corpsmembers have a variety of opportunities in this field. <br />Corpsmembers have the opportunity to receive food handler's licenses and National Retail <br />Federation certifications in customer service. Externships, on-the-job training, and job <br />shadowing opportunities through partners like Goodwill Industries, CVS and Walgreens <br />Pharmacies, Costco, Dollar Tree, Smart & Final, and others provide hands-on customer service <br />experience. A Corpsmember recently started an externship at a local hotel and spa. <br />Corpsmembers have participated in a partnership with the Fullerton Arboretum and local social <br />enterprise Monkey Business Cafe, which benefits foster youth, called "Farm to Table," <br />Corpsmembers work both on the arboretum's farm and at the cafe, developing a strong <br />connection between where food grows and the process involved in delivering it to the table. <br />OCCC also has a partnership with Contract Services Group that exclusively provide job placement <br />for our participants within Orange County entertainment venues and hotels and Anaheim Resort <br />Transportation providing hotel to amusement park transportation. <br />Green/clean/environment — Corpsmembers will participate In a large way in the expansion of <br />the OCCC's waste management and recycling program to include oil, e-waste, bottle and Can <br />and tire recycling.
