April 30, 2018 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />Investing in the Artist Grant Administration <br />Community Development Agency M-25 <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, 6°i Floor <br />Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />To Whom It May Concern: <br />We are writing on behalf of Delhi Neighborhood's Community Building Initiative (CBI), a <br />group of Delhi residents whose mission is to improve safety within the Delhi Neighborhood. <br />Most of us have lived in the Delhi Neighborhood for over 40 years. Delhi Center has supported <br />us by providing us their staff support and meeting space as needed. Delhi Center provides <br />valuable services and resources to the community. <br />We are a group of residents that have been active within the Delhi Neighborhood for many years. <br />Many of us were active in collaborating, attending, and advocating for the new building during <br />the planning stages in the late 1990s. We are proud to have been a part of the planning <br />committees that lead to the beautiful building nestled in the Delhi Neighborhood. Delhi Center is <br />a second home for most of the residents. We want to preserve the culture and historical history as <br />there are many stories waiting to be uncovered and told. The Delhi Center Cultural History <br />Project will offer an opportunity for long-term residents to get the recognition they deserve for <br />being pillars of their community. <br />As longtime residents of the Delhi Neighborhood, we also want to bring to light the historical <br />significance of the Delhi Neighborhood. There is so much more to the Delhi Neighborhood that <br />what you can see today. For example, many do not know that many residents still live in the <br />homes their parents built. Many residents within the Delhi Neighborhood still remain active <br />participants within their community. ',The Delhi Neighborhood is unique in that we have always <br />worked together to help one another and advocate for others within their community. We would <br />like the new generations living in the neighborhood to have as much pride in their local <br />neighborhood as much as we do. <br />Thank you for your consideration of our request.
