Name of Applicant: Award Amount: Category: Average Score: <br />Delhi Center $5,590 Organization 81.2 — 91" <br />Organization's Description of Project: <br />The Delhi Center Cultural History Project will present the history of the Delhi neighborhood <br />through a permanent artistic display that will be installed in the center's lobby. The display will <br />capture the history of the neighborhood since the late 1860's when James McFadden purchased <br />4,000 acres of the Rancho de Santiago land grant and named the property "Delhi". The rich <br />cultural history will be presented through storytelling by seniors who have lived in the <br />neighborhood for over 80 years, poetry, art, and photography, created by artists through a <br />community engagement process. <br />Organization is based in Santa Ana and proposes to use grant funds to provide arts and culture <br />programming in Ward 1. <br />Organization's proposed use of funds: <br />In -Kind Administrative Support <br />The Delhi Center Cultural History Project is a priority for the Delhi Center and for the residents. <br />Resident engagement will be a significant element of the project, which will require support from <br />administrative staff as well as the Community Engagement Program Coordinator. The cost for <br />this work totals approximately $15,319 and will be provided in-kind to ensure that the project goes <br />smoothly from planning to implementation. <br />Artist Fees <br />Artist fees will cover the cost of producing the art work that will be displayed in the lobby of Delhi <br />Center that will depict the cultural history of the center and the neighborhood through a mixed <br />media approach. A total of $3,210 has been allocated to this cost and the actual fee per artist will <br />be determined based on the size and scope of each artists' work. <br />There are a total of six wall panels in the lobby of approximately 42 square feet each. The panels <br />are about nine feet wide and may range from four to eight feet high. Each artist will be assigned <br />at least one panel and may be assigned up to three panels as deemed appropriate by the <br />selection committee. A total of approximately 140 square feet will be produced. <br />The artist recruitment process will take into account the talents of each artist and their capacity to <br />complete one or more panels. Artists will also be hired based on their ability to work together as <br />a team as well as to incorporate resident engagement in the artistic process. <br />Video <br />A video will be produced by Delhi Center staff at no cost to capture activities such as resident <br />engagement, artistwork in progress, display development and construction, etc. Staff will produce <br />an eight to ten-minute video that will be used to promote the work that was done as well as to <br />encourage the general public to come to the Delhi Center to view the display. <br />Delhi Center <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
