MIXED USE (MEMU) OVERLAY ZONE - CITY OF SANTA ANA, APPLICANT <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NOS. 3, 2; 5, 3; 5, 4) - Planning and Building Agency <br />Legal Notice published in the Orange County Reporter August 10, 2018 and <br />notices mailed on August 9, 2018, <br />Planning Commission approved recommended action on July 23, 2018 by a <br />vote of 4-0 (Alderete, Contreras -Leo and Verino absent). <br />Mayor Pulido opened the Hearing. There were no speakers and the Hearing <br />closed. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />Councilmember Benavides, noted item has several actions which includes <br />expansion and amendments to zoning of existing metro east overlay zone. <br />Asked staff to clarify changes and impact to existing zone. Expressed desire to <br />follow up on project expansion and requested item to be continued. Opined <br />opportunity for economic development. <br />Planning and Building Agency Pincipal Planner, Vince Fregoso, provided City <br />Council with project update. Noted mixed use overlay to provide property <br />owners with development opportunities, request to amend general plan and <br />zoning would allow for consistency. Opined collaborative review has been <br />conducted by every review agency in the city and commencement of financial <br />analysis.
