REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER 2, 2018 <br />TITLE: <br />CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH <br />COMMERICAL CLEANING SYSTEMS <br />FOR JANITORIAL SERVICES <br />AT VARIOUS CITY FACILITIES <br />(SPECIFICATION NO. 14-021) <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6, 1C) <br />JqI <br />TY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Amend the contract with Commercial Cleaning Services for janitorial services in the amount of <br />$154,839, which includes a $10,000 contingency, for a total annual amount not to exceed <br />$737,074 for the final term expiring June 30, 2019, subject to non -substantive changes approved <br />by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />The Finance and Management Services Building Maintenance Division oversees City facilities in <br />order to maintain clean, safe and properly functioning buildings. The current contract with <br />Commercial Cleaning Systems provides janitorial services at City Hall, Ross Annex, SARTC, <br />Corporation Yard, Main Library, Newhope and McFadden Learning Centers and six recreation <br />centers. <br />On January 1, 2018 a State of California mandated minimum wage increase of 4.76% went into <br />effect. In renewing the final term of the contract, the vendor has made the City aware of an <br />additional 9.1 % mandated increase to minimum wage occurring January 2019. In order to comply <br />with the California mandated minimum wage law through the end of the contract term, funds in <br />the amount of $154,839 are needed. The amendment amount includes a $10,000 contingency to <br />allow for unanticipated charges outside of routine maintenance. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports City efforts to meet Strategic Plan Goal #6 Community Facilities & <br />Infrastructure: Strategy 1 C (invest resources and technology to extend the service life of existing <br />infrastructure to protect the City's investment and support a high quality of life standard). <br />2213-1 <br />
