Environmental ® Facilities a Geotechnical a Materials <br />MIKE BENEFIELD, PE, CAC <br />TASK MANAGER, TECHNICAL ADVISOR <br />Mike provides hazardous materials management services <br />from Terracon's southern California and Oakland, CA <br />offices. He specializes in consulting for asbestos, lead, <br />universal waste, and PCB bulk materials. Mike's 20+ years <br />of experience have covered surveys, specification design, <br />abatement cost estimation, and project monitoring. He <br />supervises large-scale surveys and assessments and runs <br />training for asbestos and lead work. <br />Mike coordinated a specialty training course for worker <br />safety in asbestos cement pipe projects and took it through <br />the Cal/OSHA approval process, earning California's first <br />approval for this type of training. Mike developed NOA <br />consulting into a cornerstone of the Oakland office's <br />revenue, covering dust control plans, OSHA compliance, <br />training, and perimeter monitoring. <br />PROJECT EXPERIENCE <br />BUILDING REPAIRS + CONTAMINATION REMOVAL I <br />FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, LOS <br />ANGELES, CA <br />Mike conducted work observations and consulted for the FBI <br />during fireproofing repairs and the removal of asbestos <br />contamination on the 12th and 1311 floors of the building on <br />11000 Wilshire Boulevard, owned by the General Services <br />Administration. The survey covered 73 floors in six federal buildings, totaling 4.1 <br />million square feet. Mike used a portable database system to supervise industrial hygiene <br />technicians as they performed the survey. Mike produced operations and maintenance plans <br />after the survey, and his final reports included room -by -room survey data. <br />AIR MONITORING + HAZARDOUS MATERIALS MANAGEMENT I SANTA CLARA COUNTY, <br />CA <br />Mike has managed over 20 hazardous materials projects for the Santa Clara Valley Health and <br />Hospital System since 2010 to support ongoing upgrades and renovation. His work has covered <br />sensitive areas including women's and children's facilities, operating rooms, and burn units, and <br />he has maintained tight communication with hospital staff and site technicians.
