m
.a°.= occco
sp?of°• together in faith, forward for justice
November 20th 2018
Dear Mayor Pulldo and Council Member:
On behalf of OCCCO, I would like to express our strong support for Map D2 without changes.
Residents strongly supported map D2 at scheduled community members in Santa Ana, and it was
adopted at Hearing #4 on October 30th, before elections on November 6th, where voters approved
measure AA by 63.3%. It is highly likely voters saw map D2 before they voted and are expecting it to
be implemented as is.
We also want to recommend a sequence that puts wards with a higher percentage of low-income
residents up for election on the 2020 presidential year to promote voter turnout among low propensity
voters. Our recommendations are as follow:
A - Ward 1 - 2020, B - Ward 3 - 2020, C - Ward 5 - 2020, D - Ward 2 - 2022, E - Ward 4 - 2022,
F - Ward 6 - 2022.
Wards F and E tend to have a higher income population. Wards B and C tend to have a lower income
populations. Low-income populations tend to vote a lower rate but having them vote on a presidential
election will increase voting rates.
Please feel to contact me at if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Miguel Hernandez
Executive Director, OCCCO
https://www.santa-ana.o[g/sites/default/files/cc/Per-Capita-Income-with-Plan-D-overla .pdf
https://www.santa-ana.org/sites/default/files/cc/Rental-Share-with-Plan-D-overla .pdf
