Also address integrity) <br />The Friend House is architecturally significant as one of the few examples of the Craftsman style in the Wilshire Square <br />neighborhood. It is also historically notable as one of the oldest, if not the oldest, homes in the neighborhood. According to <br />research conducted by the Wilshire Square Neighborhood Association, the house was built in 1915. However, city directory <br />listings for the property, apparently originally addressed as 620 Fairview, first appeared in 1923. Marcus and Anna Friend <br />were the owners and residents. Mr. Friend was a grocer, initially working for F. J.
