The Spanish Colonial Revival flourished between 1915 and 1940, reaching its apex during the 1920s and 1930s. Preceded by the Mission Revival style, movement received widespread attention after the Panama -California Exposition in San Diego in 1915, where lavish interpretations of Spanish prototypes were showcased. The most common features of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture are low-pitched or flat roofs, usually with little or no overhangs clad in red tiles, asymmetrical facades, and stucco exterior walls. Character -defining features of the style also include arches, towers, elaborated chimney tops, balconies and patios, window grilles, wood, wrought iron, tile, or stone decorative elements.
