DISCUSS AND GIVE DIRECTION TO STAFF RELATED TO COUNTY <br />STAFF'S CONTINUED INTENT TO RE -OPEN ARMORY HOMELESS <br />SHELTER IN THE DELHI NEIGHBORHOOD IN SANTA ANA, DESPITE <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA'S OPPOSITION LETTER- COUNCILMEMBER <br />SOLORIO <br />Council discussion ensued: <br />Councilmember Solorio, spoke on opportunity to work with County and <br />State, opening of the new shelter, and requests made to County to not open <br />Armory shelter. Directed staff to communicate with School District, Head <br />Start program, and Delhi Community Center to address possible mitigation <br />and potential partnership to try and stop shelter from opening; research <br />elements to oppose shelter; and pursue all options to address community <br />concerns. <br />Councilmember Villegas, supportive of reaching out to County. Opined <br />there is no need for Armory shelter. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Martinez, unsupportive of opening of Armory Shelter.
