Public Works Executive Director Fuad Sweiss, provided City Council actions <br />taken to address liability and safety equipment provided by vendor. <br />Councilmember Iglesias, requested staff to provide review of services and cost <br />analysis. <br />Public Works Executive Director Fuad Sweiss, outlined cost to city and potential <br />liability. <br />Councilmember Penaloza, expressed concern as to potential liability and <br />provided possible management practices. Supportive of item. <br />Councilmember Solorio, supportive of pilot program. Directed staff to review <br />potential of regulatory fees, cost reimbursement, and to look at other cities for <br />best practices. <br />Councilmember Sarmiento, directed staff to address potential American with <br />Disabilities Act violations. Supportive of item. <br />City Attorney Carvalho, noted agreement would include a hold harmless <br />provision. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Villegas, noted potential to provide educational outreach. <br />The following spoke on the matter: <br />1. Kyndell Gaglio, on behalf of Bird, opined service would provide <br />transportation alternative and promote community safety. Addressed City <br />Council to request support for item. <br />2. Karla Owunwanne, on behalf of Lime, opined service would provide <br />affordable and accessible alternative means of transportation that is friendly <br />to the environment. <br />Additional Council discussion ensued: <br />Mayor Pulido, opined service is an opportunity for the City to provide a benefit <br />to the community; and requested going forward companies reach out to local <br />government before rolling out with product and/or service. Supportive of item. <br />MOTION: <br />1.
