Oroaco, Norma
From: Tim Johnson <
Sent: Monday, June 03, 2019 5:16 PM
To: eComment; Ridge, Kristine
Subject: Agenda Item 55C- OC Housing Finance Trust
Council... you will be considering agenda item 55C on Tuesday night with regards to having the city join the OC
Housing Finance Trust. I urge you to understand what the Trust entails and the benefits that it can provide to
our city as part of our actions to help those who are experiencing homelessness. I feel we need to be part of this
Trust and hope you do also.
Even though much of our attention is on emergency housing, the Trust will help with providing housing to
those who are formerly homeless yet still need services. This sector of housing, often called permanent
supportive housing, is urgently needed throughout our county. By being part of the Trust, we not only will be
able to pool the power of the county and other participating cities but we also will likely have a seat on the
board as the largest city in the Central SPA. The Trust will ultimately be responsible for trying to ensure that
the county and participating cities get the needed financial support that supportive housing often needs to
provide the services to its residents... this is money that housing providers may otherwise not be in a position to
receive.
Please consider supporting this item after reviewing the staff report and other items.
Thanks,
Tim Johnson
