LR 6/4/19 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019-036 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ACCEPTING THE 2019 NATIONAL FITNESS <br />CAMPAIGN GRANT OF $30,000 PER SITE, FOR A TOTAL <br />OF FIVE AND AGREEING TO ENDEAVOR TO PROVIDE <br />AN ESTIMATED $120,000 <br />REMAINING PURCHASE <br />AND INSTALLATION OF <br />FIVE CITY PARKS <br />PER EACH SITE TO FUND THE <br />PRICE OF THE EQUIPMENT <br />THE FITNESS EQUIPMENT AT <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. In 2019, the National Fitness Campaign offered grants to 200 Cities or <br />Colleges to install an outdoor Fitness Court®, in public parks for use by the <br />public at no cost. <br />B. The City's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency submitted an <br />application for the 2019 National Fitness Campaign grant funds and was <br />selected as a recipient of the grant for five City owned sites. <br />C. The 2019 National Fitness Campaign grant is $30,000 per site for a total of <br />$150,000 for the five sites. The total cost for the purchase of the outdoor <br />Fitness Court® equipment (includes mobile app, sports floor, communications <br />and press releases, activation campaign etc.) at five City parks (Jerome Park, <br />El Salvador Park, Delhi Park, Rosita Park and a fifth site to be named at a <br />later date) will be $120,000 per site for a total of $600,000. The cost of <br />installation will be an additional cost to the City and is estimated at $30,000 <br />per site, but may vary from site to site. The $30,000 grant per site operates <br />as a credit toward the total purchase price of the Fitness Court®. The City <br />will need to obtain funding to complete the installation of the five outdoor <br />Fitness Court® locations. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes the <br />City Manager or her designee, on terms acceptable to the City Attorney, to execute any <br />documents that are necessary to accept the 2019 National Fitness Campaign $30,000 <br />grant funds per site (five sites total) for the outdoor Fitness Court® equipment; <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby agrees to <br />endeavor to secure funding for the remaining $90,000 per site for the purchase of the <br />equipment plus the additional amount for installation (estimated to be $30,000 per site), <br />Resolution No. 2019-036 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
