Storm Drain System Stenciling and Signage <br />Phrase "No -Dumping- Drains to Oceans" or equally effective phrase is to be placed on each catch <br />basin and storm drain inlet to inform the public of the destination of pollutants discharged into <br />stormwater. Catch basin signage shall be inspected for legibility no less than once per year. The <br />catch basin stencil shall be kept onsite. Catch basins shall be re -stenciled when phrase is no longer <br />legible. See BMP SD-13, Storm Drain Signage, in Section VII for more information. <br />S3. Design and construct trash and waste storage areas <br />The trash storage areas will be paved with an impervious surface. No drainage will be directed <br />toward the trash areas and the enclosures will be walled on all four sides to minimize spillage of <br />trash into the Site. For additional information, see BMP SD-32, Trash Storage Areas, in Section VII. <br />Storm drain inlets near or adjacent to trash enclosures must be checked and cleared of debris on a <br />regular basis, and before and after storms. <br />S4. Use efficient irrigation systems & landscape design <br />The proposed landscape and irrigation system shall group plants with similar water requirements <br />in order to reduce excess irrigation runoff and promote surface filtration and shall comply with the <br />Santa Ana Municipal Code. Monthly inspection of the irrigation system shall be conducted to <br />insure efficient water uses. See BMPs SC-41, Building and Grounds Maintenance, SD-10, Site <br />Design and Landscape Planning, and SD-12, Efficient Irrigation, in Section VII. <br />S6. Dock Areas <br />New dock areas shall include specific BMPs such as catch basin filters to treat runoff before <br />discharge to the storm drain system. Covered docks do not require catch basin filters and shall <br />drain to the sewer system. Docks shall be designed to minimize run-on. <br />513. Wash water control for food preparation areas <br />Food establishments (per State Health & Safety Code 27520) shall have either contained areas or <br />sinks, each with sanitary sewer connections for disposal of wash waters containing kitchen and <br />food wastes.
