All
College Bound students are introduced to opportunities beyond four year institutions: community college,
trade schools, military, and other alternatives. College Bound teens have access to resources and tutors that
focus on academics and provide homework and SAT/PSAT assistance. Advisors also maintain an extensive
list of scholarships and grants with deadlines and requirements, matching students to appropriate
opportunities, and we provide FAFSA and scholarship workshops and application assistance to help them
secure financial resources. For first -generation college students, whose families are often unfamiliar with the
college application process, these services demystify the process of applying for admission and make college
an attainable goal. One of the reasons that this program is so important for the teens we serve in Santa Ana is that
45% of Santa Ana residents ages 25 and over do not have a high school diploma or college experience.
Our Club believes that if we can expose more youth to this program and put them on a path towards securing
their high school diploma, and building a path for higher education and career it will allow for these youth to
break from a life of poverty and prevent them from exposure to criminal elements. Services are offered five days a
week, year -around.
The case management component of College Bound involves one-on-one support between the teens and
Academic Advisors. We supplement academic learning with weekly workshops on college requirements,
writing skills, SAT preparation, resume writing, and other topics; we also offer college tours, field trips, and
motivational guest speakers. Another role of the Academic Advisors is to meet and counsel parents to inform
them about the process and costs associated with College, the value of earning an advanced degree, and
engaging them in their child's educational journey.
EXHIBIT A
