aeve iopment ano implementation of the gang prevention activities tney ww conauct. <br />Teens will also engage in a variety of classroom activities and volunteer activities that will help them <br />increase their leadership skills, critical thinking skills, effective communication, and social competencies. <br />Classroom activities will incorporate positive peer group activities, gang awareness and prevention <br />strategies, and motivational guest speakers who will cover topics such as conflict resolution and specific <br />strategies to avoid risk and role playing adverse situations and solutions. Classroom activities will also <br />incorporate career develop and work readiness workshops as well as training in resume writing, mockjob <br />interviews, and other transferable skills. <br />Teens will use the skills learned to produce workshops and other activities for children ages 7 to 13 <br />aimed at preventing gang involvement and addressing the risk factors that are revealed as being most <br />prevalent through the risk assessment. Teens will use lessons learned from their own experiences coupled <br />with training and guidance to prepare themselves to transfer their knowledge to younger children in a meaningful <br />way. Teens will also participate in the planning and production of special events and projects for <br />the community that improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. <br />The initial risk factor and skills assessments will take place in one or more meetings, one-on-one in a <br />private, confidential setting. The teen orientation will be conducted in a classroom setting several times <br />throughout the year as new participants are registered. Teen classroom activities will be offered regularly <br />and repeated twice during the year to provide enough opportunities to complete the necessary training. <br />Workshops and activities conducted by teens for younger children will be conducted during the center's <br />winter and spring camps and there will be several planning sessions for the teens for each activity conducted. <br />Teens earn a scholarship of up to $500 for completion of goals and program activities. <br />The target population includes a total of 110 participants, including 30 teens, ages 14-19 and 80- children <br />ages 7 to 13. Although the program will serve all Santa Ana residents, a special emphasis will be placed on <br />those who live in the Delhi and surrounding neighborhoods. <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
