REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />AUGUST 20, 2019 <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />TITLE: APPROVED <br />ADOPT A RESOLUTION AMENDING ❑ As Recommended <br />THE FEE FOR RELEASE OF IMPOUNDED El El <br />ElOOrrdinance on 18' Reading <br />VEHICLES FOR UNLICENSED OR ❑ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S ❑ Implementing Resolution <br />LICENSES ❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 4, 2A) <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />CITY ANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Adopt a resolution amending the fee for Release of Impounded Vehicles (Unlicensed or <br />Suspended/Revoked Driver's Licenses) for Fiscal Year 2019-2020. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Miscellaneous Fee Schedule is comprised of various charges associated with various City <br />services. On an annual basis, fees and related services associated with the Miscellaneous Fee <br />Resolution, are reviewed and adjusted to reflect the City's costs in delivering the services. <br />Unless otherwise noted, the Fees are increased 3.92%. This percentage increase reflects the <br />change in the Consumers Price Index (CPI) — Urban, All Services Components, for the Los <br />Angeles — Riverside — Orange County area in a twelve-month period ending December 31, 2018. <br />At their June 4, 2019 regulary scheduled meeting, the City Council adopted a Resolution <br />establishing a Uniform Schedule of Miscellaneous Fees for Fiscal Year 2019-2020. Upon <br />subsequent review of the fee schedule, it was noted that the following fee was inadvertently <br />deleted prior to Council approval. <br />Fee <br />I FY 2018-2019 <br />FY 2019-2020 <br />Release of Impounded Vehicles (Unlicensed or <br />$218.74 <br />Suspended/Revoked Driver's Licenses)$210.49 <br />This Fee is intended to cover staff costs associated with impounding a vehicle, conducting the <br />post storage hearing, and completing the release paperwork. The deletion of the Fee was a <br />clerical error and approval of the proposed Resolution is recommended to re-establish the fee in <br />the FY 2019-2020 Misellaneous Fee Schedule. The Police Department has confirmed the actual <br />cost of providing the service does not exceed the proposed fees for FY 2019-2020. <br />55F-1 <br />
