a <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This Environmental Impact Report CEIR) has been prepared to <br /> evaluate the environmental impacts of the proposed "Fashion Square <br /> Commercial Center" project. The proposed "Fashion Square Commercial <br /> Center" project involves the demolition of the existing Main Street <br /> Shopping Center, rehabilitation of Fashion Square Shopping Center and a <br /> maximum permitted development of 3,100,000 square feet of office and <br /> retail space and 1,200 hotel rooms. <br /> This EIR is prepared as a "subsequent environmental impact <br /> report" to address the environmental impacts of an undertaking which is <br /> in furtherance of the Redevelopment Plan of the Santa Ana Redevelopment <br /> Project (as amended in June, 1975) and which is located within the <br /> project area established by that amended Redevelopment Plan. An <br /> environmental impact report was certified for the amended Redeveloirnent <br /> Plan on May 15, 1975, and is now a public record available for <br /> inspection in the offices of the Coninunity Redevelopment Agency of the <br /> City of Santa Ana ("Agency"). This EIR is designed to be complete in <br /> itself, rather than merely as a supplement to the amended Redevelopment <br /> Plan EIR. For purpose of convenience, the word "project" is used herein <br /> to referto this specific undertaking in furtherance of the amended <br /> Redevelopment Plan rather than to refer to the Santa Ana Redevelopment <br /> Project as a whole. <br />L <br /> This EIR has been prepared for the City of Santa Ana Community <br />L.
