5.14 Energy Conservation <br /> 5.14.1 Environmental Setting <br /> The existing Fashion Square Shopping Center is comprised of <br /> 521,725 square feet of retail building space. Adjacent to Fashion <br /> Square is the Mainstreet Center which is comprised of 163,403 square <br /> feet of retail use. <br /> ti <br /> Ene9gy consumption by the existing land uses is pursuant to <br /> natural gas and electricity consumed by the existing Fashion Square <br /> A- <br /> Center and Mainstreet Center. As detailed in Section 5.13.1 of this <br /> report, the estimated natural gas consumption for the existing uses on <br /> the site is 13,702,560 cubic feet per month. Concurrently, and detailed <br /> in Section 5.13.2 of this report, the estimated electrical consumption <br /> for the existing uses on the site is 2,397,948 kilowatt hours per traonth. <br /> ½ 5.14.2 jj~~s <br /> Existing Non-Residential Building Standards <br /> The proposed structures will have to be designed for optimum <br /> I- <br /> energy efficiency in accordance with Energy Conservation Standards for <br /> non-residential buildings adopted by the State of California Energy <br />A. Comission as amended July 26, 1978. The new regulations prescribe <br /> energy conservation standards for all new non-residential buildings in <br />-~ California and represent the state-of-the-art for most energy <br /> conservation measures related to building design and equipment <br /> selection. Specifically, the regulations specify energy-saving designs <br /> for roof, wall and floor installations, and also contain lighting, <br /> heating and air conditioning, and hot water supply specification <br /> standards.
