Resolution No. 2019-xx <br />Page 1 of 10 <br /> LS 9.9.19 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019-xx <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT NO. 2019-01 AS CONDITIONED, TO ALLOW <br />THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 2-STORY, 9,928-SQUARE <br />FOOT COMMUNITY SERVICE BUILDING AND ADDITIONAL <br />SEATS WITHIN THE EXISTING CHURCH FOR <br />ARCHANGEL MICHAEL COPTIC ORTHODOX CHURCH <br />LOCATED AT 4405 WEST EDINGER AVENUE <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Planning Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. Mariam Solman with Rakoty Associate Architects, representing Archangel <br />Michael Coptic Orthodox Church (“Applicant”), is requesting approval of <br />Conditional Use Permit No. 2019-01 as conditioned, to demolish five <br />single-family dwellings and allow for the construction of a new 9,928- <br />square foot community service building, to continue operations of the <br />existing church and add 110 additional seats in the mezzanine and <br />expand the parking lot for a total of 156 parking spaces at 4405 West <br />Edinger Avenue. <br />B. Pursuant to Section 41-232.5 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code, a <br />conditional use permit (CUP) is required for churches and accessory <br />church buildings. <br />C. Conditional Use Permit No. 2019-01 came before the Planning <br />Commission of the City of Santa Ana on January 28, 2019, for a duly <br />noticed public hearing. Based on the public comments received, the <br />Commission voted to continue the item for 6 months. <br />D. Conditional Use Permit No. 2019-01 came before the Planning <br />Commission of the City of Santa Ana on September 9, 2019, for a duly <br />noticed public hearing. <br />E. The Planning Commission determines that the following findings, which <br />must be established in order to grant this Conditional Use Permit pursuant <br />to Santa Ana Municipal Code (SAMC) Section 41-638, have been <br />established for Conditional Use Permit No. 2019-01: <br />1. That the proposed use will provide a service or facility which will <br />contribute to the general wellbeing of the neighborhood or <br />community. <br /> 1-11
