S. Payment After Thirty Years. After thirty (30) years or more of cumulative full-time <br />service with the City, each qualified employee shall be entitled to payment for <br />three-quarters (3/4) of the total accrued sick leave benefit credited into his or her <br />individual RHS account, not to exceed a maximum limit of one thousand two - <br />hundred (1200) hours, at the rate of base pay effective on the date of such <br />termination. <br />6. SAMA members who notify the City, in writing, of their intent to retire within 12 <br />calendar months shall be allowed to cash out any eligible sick leave bank balances <br />(10.1K) upon request. Employees shall receive payment as soon as practical, and <br />no longer than 30 days after the request has been made. if said employee cashes <br />out his/her eligible sick leave bank balances prior to retirement and subsequently <br />does not retire from City, all future sick leave accrual for said employee shall be <br />subject to the same cash out provision elected and will be processed on the final <br />paycheck. All combined cash outs cannot exceed what the said employee would <br />have been entitled to if the cash out was processed on the final paycheck only. <br />7. Effective upon adoption of this MOU, employees with at least ten (10) years of full- <br />time city service that retire from the City of Santa Ana within 120 days of separation <br />shall be eligible to convert up to two -thousand (2000) hours of accumulated unused <br />sick leave to CalPERS Service Credit as defined in Section 13.3. <br />8. The City Manager is authorized to grant a newly appointed incumbent of a SAMA <br />classification sick leave credit up to an amount equal to any eamed but unused sick <br />leave credit available to such appointee at the time of his or her separation from his <br />or her most recent previous employer. <br />A hump sum payment shall be made to the beneficiaries of any eligible employee <br />whose death occurs while such employee is an active employee of the City, such <br />payment to be in the amount of one-third (1/3) of the total sick leave benefit credited <br />to the employee's account at the time of his or her death, and at the rate of pay <br />effective on the date of death. <br />10.2 Bereavement Leave. <br />A.
