REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 19, 2019 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO THE <br />AGREEMENT WITH VACANT PROPERTY <br />SECURITY, LLC TO INCREASE THE <br />AGREEMENT AMOUNT BY $55,000 FOR A <br />TOTAL OF $170,000, EXTEND THE TERM <br />TO DECEMBER 4, 2020 AND ADD A ONE- <br />YEAR RENEWAL OPTION ENDING ON <br />DECEMBER 4, 2021 TO BE FUNDED BY <br />THE GENERAL FUND <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 5,4) <br />/s/ Kristine Ridaf <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on V1 Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CKiP►IIIto] =1all C6 <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement amendment with Vacant Property Security, <br />LLC for the placement of metal security doors, screens and other security equipment on buildings <br />that will increase the agreement amount by $55,000 for a total of $170,000, extend the term to <br />December 4, 2020 and add a one-year renewal option ending on December 4, 2021 exercisable <br />by the City Manager and City Attorney to be funded by the General Fund, subject to non - <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On December 5, 2017, the City Council awarded an agreement to Vacant Property Security, LLC. <br />for $115,000 for one year with a one-year renewal option for services to secure buildings using <br />metal doors and screens. The City has found this product to be very effective in the prevention of <br />building intruders and is an asset to the Planning and Building Agency when Code Enforcement <br />red -tags a building. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency also uses the service <br />to secure the property located at 625 South Cypress Avenue. The extended use of this service will <br />allow the City appropriate time to divest of this property. Therefore, the City wishes to continue the <br />service by amending the agreement to increase the total amount by $55,000, extending the term to <br />December 4, 2020 and adding a one-year renewal option. The total agreement amount is <br />$170,000 for a total of four years, with all the renewal periods. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item allows the City to meet Goal #5 — Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #4 (Support neighborhood vitality and livability). <br />
