Box 1988, M30
Santa Ana, CA 92701
Dear City Clerk,
I am writing this letter in opposition to your proposed five-year schedule of
increases to the city's water rates and sewer changes. Over the last few years, our
water bill has significantly increased, even when we have done our best to
decrease our water usage. The current rates are already voluminous. In addition,
the city of Santa Ana has raised its sale tax to 9.25 percent, making it the city
with the highest sales tax in Orange County. Santa Ana residents should not have
to pay additional money that the city and companies use for bonuses, perks and
exorbitant retirement benefits to their workers. Your new rate proposal increase
will cause an even greater financial hardship for many of the residents of this
city. Although I have reviewed all the information you have provided, I cannot
accept these changes. There must be better business methods where we can all be
more efficient and that do not consistently increase our rates. Please do the right
thing, put Santa Ana first and its residents.
Glicerio Ayala
Santa Ana Resident
