The Mayor calls for nominations for Mayor Pro Tem position. <br /> <br />2. Close nominations for position. <br /> <br />3. The Mayor declares the result of the election. <br /> <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On December 11, 2018, the Council nominated and elected Juan Villegas as Mayor Pro Tem <br />serving the period of 2018 through 2020. Pursuant to Resolution No. 2019-058, Council called a <br />Special Municipal Election to fill the vacant Ward 4 council member office held on November 5, <br />2019. The ROV provided the certified election results for the newly elected Ward 4 Councilmember <br />Phil Bacerra. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Santa Ana Charter Section 405, “in the first meeting of the City Council following any <br />general or special election at which members of the City Council are elected, the City Council shall <br />elect a mayor pro tem who shall act as mayor during the absence from the City or disability of the <br />mayor, or during any vacancy in the office of mayor.” In the same manner, Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code Section 2-101, the council shall elect a mayor pro tem by a majority vote of the council. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
