PROGRAMS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH <br />Teen Program <br />REACH POTENTIAL <br />SEVERAL HUNDRED STUDENTS ANNUALLY <br />A regularly occurring Teen Program for pre -teens and <br />teens in 6th through 8th grades will introduce participants <br />to conservation projects and career opportunities. <br />Through monthly meetings, this cohort will investigate <br />specific conservation projects (such as anteater or tamarin <br />conservation), meet professionals in the field (building on <br />new and existing partnerships such as with USGS) and build <br />individual skills. Participants would also be able to apply <br />for positions as zoo camp assistants and leaders, passing <br />their knowledge on to youngerguests. This program could <br />involve several hundred teens annually. <br />Volunteer Opportunities <br />REACH POTENTIAL <br />SEVERAL HUNDRED TEENS ANNUALLY <br />A number of existing and new volunteer opportunities <br />will be offered for teens and young adults ages 14 and <br />up, ranging from visitor services to exhibit interpretation <br />and facilitating animal interactions. Participants complete <br />City of Santa Ana Volunteer requirements, develop skills <br />appropriate for listing on a resume (such as customer <br />service) and develop their own passion for communication <br />about animal and conservation to the general public. This <br />program could involve several hundred teens and young <br />adults annually. <br />
