Agreement with The Hartford Life <br />December 17, 2019 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Staff is recommending that the City renew the agreement with The Hartford on January 1 of each <br />year, beginning in 2020. The rate guarantee is for one (1) year beginning January 1, 2020 through <br />December 31, 2020. The rates did not increase for the plan year 2020 (Exhibit 2). However, plan <br />benefits changed slightly for Basic Life Insurance and Long Term Disability due to some bargaining <br />unit contract approvals approved by the City Council this past year. <br />The schedule(s) of insurance for the policy benefits with The Hartford are as follows: <br />1. Basic Life Insurance <br />2. Supplemental Life Insurance <br />3. Dependent Life Insurance <br />4. Long Term Disability Insurance <br />5. Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit <br />6. Supplemental Dependent Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item allows the City to meet Goal #7 — Team Santa Ana, Objective #6 (Provide a <br />positive workplace environment that supports the health of its employees and celebrates its <br />success). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no additional fiscal impact associated with this agreement. Funds are budgeted and <br />available in the amount of $680,300 for FY 2019-20, Human Resources Benefits Account (account <br />no. 08109053-64010) to pay for group insurance premiums in which commissions are included, <br />employees pay their own premiums for supplemental life insurance benefits. <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />Steven V.
