The project will <br />encompass the design and construction of pedestrian safety improvements, including sidewalk <br />widening, protected pedestrian crossings, and Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades. This <br />project is designed to increase pedestrian safety and mobility along the corridor. <br />On October 11, 2019, the Public Works Agency released Request for Proposals No. 19-110 on the <br />City's online procurement portal, PlanetBids, soliciting proposals from qualified firms for the First <br />Street Pedestrian Improvements PS&E package. Five proposals were received on November 12, <br />2020. All proposals were deemed responsive and were subsequently evaluated and ranked by a <br />review committee composed of personnel from the Public Works Agency Design and Traffic <br />Engineering staff. Ranking criteria included firm and team experience, understanding of need, <br />relevant project experience, schedule, and references. The ranking of the firms is as follows: <br />25K-1 <br />
