13.2 All edging/detailing shall be peatornhed with the use of it Mcclain's edger or <br />approved substitute walk -behind or Fixed blade stick edger. Contractor shall edge <br />all turf adjacent to all improved hard surfaces such as concrete, decomposed <br />granite, asphalted concrete paved areas, pavers, etc. <br />1.3.3 13dging/cletailing may occur with string trimmers around upright site amenities that <br />are not immediately adjacent paved surfaces. The Contractor shall not detail turf <br />down to bare soil, The Contactor shall detail turf around amenities using a string <br />trimmer so the turf remains growing up to the amenity. <br />1.3.4 Chemical detailing of turf is not allowed without the Director's Representatives <br />approval. Ifehemical detailing is performed without the Director's Representatives <br />written approval, the Contractor shall incur a penalty up to $300 plus the cost to <br />repair the areas per the Director's Representatives direction. <br />1.3.5 The Contractor shall use the McClain's edger, or approved substitute, to edge <br />straight lines along fences, walls, valve boxes, d.g, or a.c, pathways, other flat <br />laying amenities or long flowing arcs. The Director's' Representative has the <br />authority to require the Contractor to use string or rope lines to achieve straight or <br />flowing arc lines if the Contractor's staff fails to achieve this quality without this <br />method. <br />1.3.6 The Contractor shall detail around trees, along walls/fences and other amenities <br />first using a sharpened shovel cut to establish a concentric round circle around trees, <br />Poles, etc. Once the initial detailed circle is established a string trimmer may be <br />used to maintain the circle. Should the circle begin to deform the Director's <br />Representative shall direct the Contractor to repeat the detail process. Shovel cut <br />detailing shall be repeated as often as necessary to maintain crisp evenly <br />round/straight lines. In the event that the circle becomes too great, the Director's <br />Representative shall direct the Contactor to sod the area around the tree at the <br />Contractor's expense to the size instructed by the Director's Representative, <br />1.3.7 The Contractor shall detail turf not greater than I" away from amenities wails or <br />fences. Detail lines shall be made straight and shall be maintained straight. The <br />Contractor shall, at his own cost, supply sandy loam top soil and an approved turf <br />sod to reduce any existing bare soil areas along walls/fences that are greater than <br />f", <br />1.4 Casual Turf Annual Renovation-Overseeding <br />L4.1 Casual Turf shall be renovated-overseeded one-time per year April through May. <br />All seed quantities and type specified shall be verified by the Director's <br />Representative prior to any applications. The process for renovation-overseeding <br />shall be as follows: <br />1.4, t. t Turf shall be flailed down to V4". All turf clippings shall be removed. <br />1.4.1.2 Contractor shall flag/mark all irrigation and site amenities and shall avoid <br />hitting/damaging with the aeration equipment.
