ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS REQUIRED BY STATE REGULATIONS TO BE <br />INCLUDED IN SOUD WASTE AGREEMENT <br />• Residential food waste program —Sp 1383 requires jurisdictions to offer an organics recycling <br />program, including food waste, to all generators by January 1, 2022. <br />• organics waste collection and recycling from commercial generators that currently meet the <br />thresholds of AB 1825, and in January 1, 2022 from all generators of organics. <br />• Food donation/rescue— Hauler to provide information and/or coordinate with food rescue <br />organizations. <br />• AB 341 compliant commercial and multi -family recyclingwhich may include a source -separated <br />program, and/or processing of mixed commercial/multi-family for customers thatdo not <br />participate in the source -separated recycling program. <br />VI. SUITE OF ADDITIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS TO BE CONSIDERED <br />IN THE NEW SOLID WASTE AGREEMENT AS FINANCIAL FEASIBLE <br />• Household hazardous waste— Hauler to provide an annual drop-off event. <br />• Medication disposal program —Selected hauler will be required to promote local medication <br />take -back programs. <br />• Document shredding events— Provide one time per year. <br />• Compost give-away events— Provide one time per year. <br />• Multi -family bulky item collection. <br />• Provide solid waste containers for encampment cleanups. <br />• Recycling block party— Recognize a residential neighborhood that consistently puts out their <br />recycling containers (set out) and has minimal contamination of recyclable materials by hosting <br />a block party. <br />• Environmental ambassador program— Recognize businesses and restaurants that have <br />implemented source -reduction, reuse, recycling, and other environmental programs at City <br />Council meetings and coordinate presentations with Chamber of Commerce and/or other <br />community meetings. <br />VII. ADDITIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES FOR CONSIDERATION <br />• Produce an environmental directory €or residents and businesses which lists all Opportunities for <br />reuse, source -reduction, and recycling. <br />• Support extended producer responsibility legislation for toxic and difficult to recycle items. <br />• Support state and national legislation that requires manufacturers to reduce packaging and to <br />incorporate recycled content materials in all packaging. <br />October 15, 2018 <br />February 11, 2020 8-8 City of Santa Ana <br />Z�. 1 <br />• <br />
