City Fabrick March 3, 2020
Mayor and City Council
CITY OF SANTA ANA
20 Civic Center Plaza
Santa Ana, CA 92701
RE: Walnut+ Daisy Urban Farm
Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers,
I am writing this letter to express my support, on behalf of City Fabrick, for the City Council
approval of the disposition and development agreement with THRIVE Santa Ana, Inc. and a
ninety-nine year ground lease for the development of a microfarm at 1901 Walnut Avenue.
This is an incredible opportunity to support community efforts to build self-sustaining
economic development while addressing local food insecurity by repurposing under-utilized
publicly owned property.
City Fabrick is a nonprofit urban design studio dedicated to reshaping communities in need
through collaborative public interest design, planning, policy development, and advocacy.
City Fabrick has been working in Santa Ana since our inception and have collaborated
extensively with THRIVE to develop the vision for the microfarm. City Fabrick plans on
continuing to support THRIVE as part of the project by facilitating community outreach and
engagement while continuing design development through permitting and construction.
As invested members of this community in the sustainability of the Santa Ana, and an
organization with extensive experience supporting local economic development and food
security, we enthusiastically support the microfarm project being proposed by THRIVE, and
the City's collaboration and contribution through the DDA. For additional information on our
partnership, fell free to contact me at brian@cityfabrick.org or 562.901.2128 with any
questions.
Sincerely,
& q Q
Brian Ulaszewski, LEED AP
City Fabrick
Executive Director
