Task Description <br />Amount <br />Requested <br />• <br />Tribal Consultation: Building upon past consultation efforts, the Disadvantaged <br />Community/Tribal Pillar Chair, in partnership with SAWPA staff, CRWA and CSU DACC will <br />$200,276 <br />confer with the sovereign tribal communities within the Santa Ana Watershed and the <br />adjacent areas not served by a Regional Water Management Group. <br />• <br />Value of Water/Tap Water Trust: This activity will seek to share the value and safety of tap <br />water within the communities of the watershed. There are negative economic and health <br />$116,580 <br />outcomes from reliance on bottled water that for the Santa Ana watershed can be overcome <br />with a respectful, multi-lingual, and compassionate outreach campaign. <br />• <br />Translation Services: SAWPA will contract for translation services to produce an on -call list <br />$171,833 <br />of in -person meetingand written material translation consultants. <br />• <br />Engagement Best Practices Publications: The Water Education Foundation (WEF) will <br />research and produce a printed publication that will take a broad look at the engagement of <br />$118,617 <br />DACs with water management, with case studies from around the state, including the <br />SAWPA region. <br />• <br />State of the Santa Ana Watershed Conferences: WEF, in partnership with SAWPA, will <br />develop and host two conferences. Both events will in -part focus on the water management <br />$123,075 <br />needs of communities, and the transition to implementation phases, respectively. The <br />funding will support the DAC related aspects of the conferences. <br />• <br />Community Water Education: The CSU DACC will design and host nine DAC water <br />education events, distributed appropriately to serve local DACs throughout the watershed. <br />$107,481 <br />These events will provide learning opportunities for DAC members on how to engage with <br />the water management process in the watershed. <br />• <br />Water Agency Community Engagement Training: Using information garnered during the <br />Strengths & Needs Assessment, the CSU DACC will partner with SAWPA to provide nine <br />DAC oriented trainings to water agencies staff in the watershed. This training will include <br />$156,204 <br />engagement skills and specific knowledge about DACs served by the participating water <br />agencies. <br />• <br />Local Elected Leader Training: LGC will develop and execute nine DAC oriented trainings <br />for local elected leaders and their staff in the watershed. These training sessions will relay <br />the findings of the Strengths & Needs Assessment program element, basic information on <br />$233,035 <br />water management topics, and best practices for helping the DACs they serve, interact with <br />water planning. <br />• <br />Community Engagement Interns Program: This program will support water -related DAC <br />engagement internships for students from the CSU, University of California, and community <br />college campuses of the watershed. The program, administered by the CSU DACC, will <br />$644,091 <br />seek applications from public agencies and environmental or social justice non- <br />governmental organizations for the services of pairs of interns to assist with community <br />engagement or public affairs work related to DACs. <br />Project Development <br />• <br />Technical Assistance (TA) for Community needs: During engagement efforts the <br />program team will learn of projects, plans and programs. Following evaluation of these <br />projects, plans and programs, an appropriate set will receive TA for project engineering <br />services, curriculum development, translation services, and program support. <br />The evaluation of the projects, plans, and programs will follow a set of evaluation criteria to - <br />$3,087,588 <br />be developed by the DACI TAC. This effort may also link to the State Water Resources <br />Control Board's Technical Assistance Program, via the CSU DACC and CRWA which are <br />both statewide TA providers. <br />• <br />OWOW Plan Update 2018: The DAC Involvement program information (or results) will be <br />incorporated in the OWOW Plan. This will include an update to Subchapter 5.11 DAC/Tribal <br />Communities and a general update throughout in reference to DAC engagement best <br />$130,699 <br />practices, maps, and other related materials. This will be a complementary effort to the <br />actions funded the related Proposition 1 IRWM Planning Grant. <br />25C-47 <br />
