The
Public Works Agency — Water Resources Division is responsible for the installation, maintenance
and repair of the water meters used to measure the amount of water delivered to each of these
customers. To ensure that these meters are accurately measuring the amount of water delivered
to each customer, the meters must be periodically tested using specialized equipment such as a
test bench.
The requested water meter test bench will replace —and substantially upgrade —the existing 30-
year-old equipment. The new, automated test bench offers several advantages over the existing
equipment:
• The automated process will increase confidence in test results by reducing human error,
which in turn will reduce unaccounted water loss
• Automation allows staff to save and distribute test results for applications such as auditing
and reporting
• Recirculation systems will reduce the amount of water loss in the testing process
• With the upcoming move to Advanced Metering Infrastructure, the new test bench will allow
staff to efficiently meet the mandates for pre -installation testing
The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on December 20, 2019, on the City's online bid
management and publication system.
