Salas, Diana
From: Salas, Diana
Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2020 4:57 PM
To: !City Clerk
Subject: FW: in english
Dear Honorable Mayor and members of the Council, My
name is Maria Merlan and I am a resident of Santa Ana. I
am writing to urge you to approve a moratorium on rent
increases, evictions, and foreclosures, as proposed by the
Santa Ana Tenants United coalition. A few weeks after the
start of this crisis, we are seeing how Santa Ana residents
are being impacted. For example, my work days have
already been cut and my husband too, and my concern is
how to pay my rent next month. I am super sorry and sad
for this quote. And there are people who are in the same
situation as me, have already suffered a cut in working
hours or have had to stop working completely to take care
of their relatives and they are going to have great
difficulty paying their rent next month. In the midst of a
global pandemic, our community needs nothing more to
worry about. Today more than ever you must act to
protect the right to a home of every Santa Ana resident
and ensure the well-being of the children and families of
Santa Ana you have the power to take care of our
community and pass a moratorium today. THANKS.
Diana Salas I Support Staff
Clerk of the Council Office 120 Civic Center Plaza I Santa Ana, CA 92701
714-647-6520 1 dsalas@santa-ana.org
1
