Together with your leadership, we have made many strides in keeping families together, protecting immigrants, improving housing conditions and availability, and investing in youth. Today, we write to express our support for the Protecting Tenants Act, urging you to implement an immediate moratorium on evictions, rent increases, utility shut offs ad late fees. Those most affected in these times are the uninsured, people over 60 years old, or with a compromised immune system, those who work 2-3 jobs to survive and are at risk of losing their jobs or income, and all of the undocumented residents of our City. In these moments we urgently need to support each other in community so that we can come out of this global emergency. This is why we ask you to take action and protect the most vulnerable amongst us. The Protecting Tenants Act will additionally establish a rental assistance fund, end parking enforcement and street sweeping, end the sweeps on homeless encampments and the confiscation of their belongings, and end debt collection activities. Now more than ever, we need you to protect the right to remain of every Santa Ana resident, and ensure the well-being of children and families of Santa Ana.
