CONSULTANT'S OBLIGATIONS: <br />Requirements <br />1.1. CONSULTANT" shall be experienced with wild, exotic (meaning non - <br />domesticated) animals including, but not limited to, primates, ungulates, <br />carnivores, xenarthrans, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. <br />1.2. CONSULTANT shall be on site a minimum of one (1) day per week for a minimum <br />of eight hours weekly at mutually agreed upon intervals. <br />L3. CONSULTANT shall perform the required veterinary services for the Santa Ana <br />Zoo. CONSULTANT performing consulting services shall be available on a seven- <br />day per week, twenty -four-hour basis to perform emergency and normal routine <br />veterinary services, including but not be limited to: <br />1.3.1. Routine and emergency consultations, as needed, by City personnel. <br />1.3.2. Blood tests and parasite checks. CONSULTANT shall conduct fecal <br />examinations at least annually on all individuals or groups in the population, <br />and more frequently on those groups recognized to be most susceptible, to <br />facilitate the detection and treatment of parasites before clinical signs <br />appear. <br />1.3.3. Monitor the effect of prescribed treatments. <br />1.3.4. Establish procedures for disease containment, quarantine, parasite control, <br />vaccination, programs, tuberculin testing. <br />1.3.5. Perform periodic reviews of dietary and husbandry techniques. <br />1.3.6. Use proper euthanasia procedures as established in the "AVMA Guidelines <br />for the Euthanasia of Animals: 2013 Edition", with method of euthanasia <br />not interfering with postmortem examinations. <br />1.3.7. Perform or have exam performed by another agency at the request of the <br />City, postmortem examinations as soon as possible on all animals inclusive <br />of wild or feral animals found dead on the zoo grounds to ascertain the cause <br />of death. <br />1.3.8. Assist with the maintenance of medical records on paper and electronically <br />in Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS), which shall <br />indicate treatment received, surgical procedures, anesthesia, any test/tab <br />results, immunization records, etc. <br />#24553v2 <br />
