Orozco, Norma From: Sent: To: Subject: Mayor & Councilmembers, Rich Gomez <RGomez@swcarpenters.org> Tuesday, April 21, 2020 3:58 PM eComment Agenda Item 75A - 1 Broadway Plaza Good Evening, my name is Rich Gomez and I am a Representative with the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters Local 714. 1 am writing this email on behalf of our Essential Carpenters who reside in the city of Santa Ana who are on the front lines working outside our county with other tradesmen and women along with our Doctors, Nurses and grocery clerks. We are asking the Council to support the 1 Broadway Plaza project. This project PLA will give our Carpenters an opportunity to work in their city and keep their money in their city. They will also be able to spend quality time with their family and friends. The jobs that this project will create will be vital to the community, with local hire, the hiring of Veterans and providing good paying jobs especially for our High School Seniors who choose not to attend a University or College. These students will be able to enroll in a State Certified Apprenticeship program where they can learn a trade and earn money while they learn and not have any college debit. They will be able to continue to stay and live in the city of Santa Ana and not be a drain on the community, since the contractors that they will be working for will not only provide a livable wage, but also benefits for the Carpenter and their immediate family.
