Results <br />have 2 BID groups in the city covering one Downtown Area other cities <br />like Long Beach have 9 or 10 business districts New York has over 70. <br />Besides the organization of neighborhoods, we need the organization of <br />our Business Districts and Neighborhoods, we need community design <br />centers that communicate with planning to fix areas that need fixing. <br />Before you can encourage development, preserve affordable housing <br />options and promote business attraction/retention and workforce <br />development you need to have communication with all your constituents <br />across the city this can be done by organizing the neighborhoods and the <br />business districts. Once this is done the city will start to be able to make <br />better assessments of what is needed within each neighborhood and <br />district for it improvement in all the above stated areas. <br />120. To enhance livability, give Code Enforcement some teeth and start <br />enforcing our codes (need more inspectors and need follow-through on <br />citations). Crack down on absentee landlords who don't maintain their <br />properties. Work more closely with neighborhoods to understand what <br />they want in terms of neighborhood improvements - vintage lights, <br />concrete streets, permit parking, etc. don't have such high hurdles to <br />"get things done" with the City. Develop more parks. Advocate on the <br />federal level to get Section 8 vouchers for all who qualify - this is the only <br />program that if you qualify, you don't automatically get help but get put <br />on awaiting list. Advocate for fairer tax treatment of renters as <br />compared to the tax advantage (federal welfare) that homeowners <br />receive. Pass city laws to require landlords to get permits for rental units - <br />enact standards similar to Section 8 for all rental housing, require rental <br />unit inspections, back up tenants who are faced with eviction. Get more <br />decent grocery stores in here. Limit corner markets and liquor stores. <br />Outlaw billboards - they really make our city look bad. <br />121. Stop spending such an exorbitant amount of money on the SAPID and I <br />best it in homelessness prevention and housing subsidies. <br />122. Solve and/or be PROACTIVE with the homelessness problems. Affordable <br />housing. City of Santa Ana NEEDS to work with Pacific Railroad to <br />PREVENT the "villages" of drug addicts and thieves living on the railroad <br />tracks. Those people lurk in to our neighborhoods at night to steal and it's <br />a very scary place at night. <br />123. Use the money wisely and on the real needs of the community. <br />124. Enhancing the livability of residential neighborhoods. <br />125. Repair the roads; assure that enforced city zoning enhances, the <br />neighborhoods (not harm them); make an effort to attract desired <br />businesses that enhance Santa Ana and provide local jobs without further <br />increasing residential density. <br />126.
