Orozco, Norma
From:
Ernesto Medrano <emedrano@laocbuildingtrades.org>
Sent:
Tuesday, May 05, 2020 3:12 PM
To:
eComment
Subject:
One Broadway Plaza
Attachments:
Public Comment - Santa Ana.pdf
Good afternoon,
This shall serve as a public comment addressed to the City Council regarding agenda item 11B at tonight's
Council meeting. I am writing to express support for this item. I want to thank the City Council for its wisdom,
foresight, innovativeness and courage in voting in support of the One Broadway Plaza at the last City Council
meeting. I, on behalf of the hard working men and women of the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and
Construction Trades Council, urge unanimous and final support for this project.
As my attached letter references the importance of this project to Santa Ana's future. A greener option,
housing with affordability, a pathway for career employment opportunities for our apprenticeship readiness
classes at Santa Ana College and the Santa Ana Unified School District, Local and Veteran hire provisions in the
construction of the project, a historic building comparable to none in the County are all great reasons to move
forward.
We read every day in the newspapers how we now have 3.7 million of Californians applying for
unemployment assistance due to the current crisis. This is a total of 20% unemployment which is comparable
to the depression during the 1930's. This project will enable Santa Ana to be ahead of the curve as Orange
County starts a responsible re opening of its economy. The jobs created shall be important to our local
economy.
Again, we wholeheartedly urge final approval of this project so that construction can start as soon as possible
and our members can don their hardhats, work boots and tool belts and start to work.
Thank you!
ERNESTO MEDRANO, COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE
LAIOC Building and Construction Trades Council
ly N.
1626 Beverly Boulevard
t
Los Angeles, CA 90026
as
M 714 651-7273 T: 213-483-4222 F: 213-483-4419
E: emedrano((Dlaocbuildingtrades.org
This email and any attachments may be confidential or legally privileged.
