Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART grant <br />funds in the amount of $300,000 into the Public Works Water Quality & Control Fund, Federal <br />Grant -Direct revenue account and appropriating $275,000 into the Public Works Water Quality & <br />Control, WaterSMART-Watershed Management Program, Improvements Other Than Building <br />expenditure account with the remaining $25,000 recognized in Reserve Appropriation expenditure <br />accounts for future year expenditures. <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with the United States Department of the <br />Interior Bureau of Reclamation (R19AP00131) for the period of May 19, 2020 to June 30, 2021, <br />accepting WaterSMART grant funding in the amount of $300,000, subject to non -substantive <br />changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On October 15, 2019, the Council authorized staff to submit a grant application to the United States <br />Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) WaterSMART (Sustain and Manage America's Resources for <br />Tomorrow) Water Energy and Efficiency Grant Program for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure <br />(AMI) Project. The AMI Project involves, among other things, the transition of approximately 45,000 <br />existing manual -read water meters to new smart meters enabling the City to implement <br />technological enhancements such as automated meter reads, leak detection and usage <br />notifications, and interactive customer service portals. <br />20C-1 <br />
