Name of Project.. City of Santa Ana Well No. 32 Rehabilitation Project Project Locagon: The Proposed Cie, of Quadrangle Map (1977). Well No. 32 is located at 2801 North Westwood Avenue in the southwest comer of Morrison Park. A new proposed pipeline will connect the well to the existing John Gable Reservoir traversing North Westwood Avenue to West Memory Lane W North Bristol Street. Lead Agency. Daisy Avenue Santa Ana, California 92701 Project Description: The City of Santa Ana is proposing to rehabilitate existing Well No. 32 by removing the existing pump and installing a now one with a variable frequency dit to pump well water. The Project includes conswction of approximately 3,250 linear feet of new pipeline to pump the well water Io the existing John Gable Reservoir. The protect also includes a new above ground well building with separate elecln I and mechanical room. Appurtenant Features include demolition of undergroontl facilities, site improvements and landscaping. A separate chemical reality building far on -site generation of sodium hypochlodte to disinfect well production waters will be constructed at John Ganhe Reservoir. The City encompasses 27.5 square miles and has a population of over 325,000 people. The City operates a water tllstribution system which includes more than 450 miles of water mains and over es. At the John Gadhe Reservoir site, the City Intends to blend low nitrate water from Well Nos. 36 and 39 (both located at the reservoir site) with higher nitrate water man Well Nos. 18, 24 and once reinstated, Well No. 32. By reinstating Well No. 32, the City can more efedlvely improve its water supply reliability and help ease the burden on the other water production distribugon fedlities. The disturbed surface area for the rehabilitation of Well No. 32 and construction of the associated pipeline Is approximately 0.278 acres. Cnstmction is anticipated to begin in the 2020 and continue for approximately 14 months. Once operational, the potential production capacity of rehabilitated Well No. 32 is expected to range been 2,000 to as much as 2,500 gallons per minute. The Project site is not designated a hazardous waste property, or a hazardous waste disposal site as enumerated under Section 65962.5 of the Califomia Government Code. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the City of Santa Ana proposes to adopt a Mitigated Negative Declaration for the above -cited Project. Such Mitigated Negative Declaration is based on the finding that, by implementing the identified mitigation measures, the Projects Polential impacts will be maintained at a es'sthan significant level. The reasons to support such a finding are documented by the Initial Study prepared by the City of Santa Ana. Copies of the Initial Study, the proposed Mitigated!
