The City has 60 Days after July 1, 2020 to approve a budget and under such serious
circumstances, the CITY COUNCIL SHOULD not RUSH ANY important decisions without the Community's awareness and
input. The budget meetings with the community did not say anything about terminating 176 employees! The Public of
Santa Ana that knows the importance and past devastation of Parks and Recreation, This will hurt Santa Ana's Youth.
I request Council to Immediate Cease and Desist and to direct staff to REVERSE this action that should have required
Council's overt approval! NO SUCH ACTION SHOULD ever betaken WITHOUT an OVERT City Council VOTE on
something this important. Further, because these employees were not being paid, there was NO EMERGENCY related to
this action because the City already had temporarily ceased paying them/had them FURLOUGHED but NOT
TERMINATED!
Parks and Centers and Youth Sports will reopen. There was no need to rush this decision without a Council VOTE on this
important of an action. City Council, please immediately REVERSE This DIRECTION and order the City's HR Dept to
immediate REHIRE these employees!
Thank you,
Johnathan Hernandez
Sent from my iPhone
